We are Currently station here in Ft.JacksonSc..My Husband will be leaving to Go to Korea for a year in the being of August..I would like to move back to our hometown with our two toddlers near our family..i would like to stay on post (ft.GordonGa)..But don't no if we could. while my husband is in korea..please..can any one tell me if me and my Toddlers could stay on post.
Tu E. asks: Any info on Fort Gordon??? Moving there early next year..any info will help!
Deanna W. asks: My husband is going TDY to WOBC at Fort Gordon for 6 months. Does anyone know if the Army will move me and the kids?
Jocelyn P. says: I asked my husband and he said if it's only 6 months. The Army most likely move you guys :/ But have him ask his command!
Angie S. says: I "think" (so don't quote me on this) that if the TDY is longer than 20 weeks they will move you. Never dealt with this personaly in the last 12 years but I thing that is the number I have heard floating around.
Jessica K. says: It depends on the TDY stationed. Normally yes but for some unknown reason they can refuse it. I pcsed with myhusband but his was for AIT.
Nicole L. says: Usually the orders have to say "move with dependents" A TDY implies that it is a temporary Duty station. Have your husband check his RFO or orders if you have them. If you are not listed on there then the Army will not pay to move you. You always have the choice to move yourself though.
Stephanie L. says: We are at Gordon now for the hubby to do WOBC but his is 8 months. The Army moved us before he even reported to WOCS. It should be a PCS move because he will be assigned to a new unit and not TDY.
Karolyn M. says: 20 weeks or longer they will.
Deanna M. says: It would be easier but we came home from Germany 2 years early EROD because of a medical issue one off the kids has they discovered in Germany. We just want to be with him again ASAP.
Charm S. says: Lucky for you Army families. Marine Corp families do not get to move on TAD ( temporary add'l orders) for anything less than a year.
Candice B. says: Far as I know they dont move you unless its a PCS move..my husband is tdy for a yr in germany and we couldnt go ..sorry hope it works out for you all.
Rosanna M. says: If it's stateside and 20 weeks or longer usually they will cover the move.
Janessa E. says: If they will move you here with him then you would qualify for post housing. Usually on post housing here at Gordon is pretty easy to get into too but you might want to look at places off post. Depending on your rank and how many dependents you have..housing isn't exactly ideal here. We have been stationed here since 2007 and we moved off post after living there (in 2 different houses because the 1st one fell apart so bad) for about 2 years. We have lived off post since. If you have any questions about the area just message me. There are some areas you'll want to stay out of. :) Good luck!
Amie H. says: I'm in the army and so is my hubby and I think the school has to be more then 52 weeks for the army to move you because they are going to look at it as are you going to move with him if he has to deploy or if he has to go to alc or Slc...if it is a tdy enroute to pcs then they will move you to the pcs location but I don't think they are gonna move you twice in one year because if you think about it you can't move with them when they pcs overseas for 12 months unless you get a command sponsorship and then it extends there tour to 2-3 years instead of one so Im pretty sure they won't do it for 6 months.....good luck though.
Brittany W. says: It has to be over 6 months. My husband had to go to Fort Gordon for training and it was shy of six months by less then a week so they wouldn't move me there.
My husband was at Fort Gordon for about a year in training and neither of us were very fond of this ba
If you're moving to Fort Gordon... Good luck!
